Leonard Grasso - NAfMEC President Senior, Music Education - Bassoon I am a two-time finalist for the JMU Concerto Competition. I have also won the MTNA Young Artist Woodwind Competition for VA and received Honorable Mention for the Southern Regional competition in Louisville, KY. I was one of the Mellophone Section Leaders for the JMU Marching Royal Dukes for the past two years, and am a freelance piano accompanist on the side. I’ve been a regular member of the JMU Wind Symphony and Symphony Orchestra for three and a half years in addition to playing tenor saxophone in JMU Jazz Band and Jazz Ensemble! In addition to being president of JMU NAfMEC, I volunteer for local high schools and teach private woodwind lessons. I also co-wrote a chapter of the book “Teaching Improvisation in Band and Orchestra” to be published in May of 2016. I’m also from New Jersey, and I live on a farm! Leonard will be performing his senior recital on February 13th at 4pm in the Forbes Center for the Performing Arts. We'd love to see you there! |
