Nicoletta Moss Sophomore, Music Education - Viola Minors in Music and Human Services and Non-Profit Studies I currently perform in the JMU Symphony Orchestra and in a string quartet. Although I primarily play stringed instruments, I have been a member of the Marching Royal Dukes' front ensemble for two years, and was a percussion section leader last season. During my time at JMU, I have also performed with the Chamber Orchestra, Pit Orchestra, and with other eclectic contemporary quartets. During my free time, you might find me playing piano or drumset at gigs around the area. |
Besides being a member of NAfMEC, I am involved with JMU's chapter of American String Teachers Association (ASTA) and just became secretary on the exec. In the community, I enjoy spending time volunteering several times a week in public schools helping students of all ages, including children with disabilities and special needs. I have also been fortunate to have the opportunity to work closely with elderly residents at retirement homes in our community, and I am the current coordinator of music activities between the School of Music and Sunnyside Retirement. One awesome project I'm working on right now is co-organizing a two-day summer workshop/event for high school musicians and collaborative composers, which will be hosted in the Greater Richmond, Virginia Area. Over the last few years, I've been a composer in our group, "Enlightened Productions" (go check us out on Facebook if you'd like), and I've teamed up with musicians from Indiana University, Virginia Commonwealth University, and several other colleges across the country. I look forward on working more on this project throughout the spring!
